Biography

We all want to see advancements in medicine that improve health outcomes for patients, but the journey from ideation to early laboratory discovery to clinical development & commercialization is a long one. A big-picture thinker motivated to make a difference, playing a pivotal role in this process is my passion. Having managed medical research for two decades, my expertise spans translational strategy, from the identification of biomarkers in clinical studies to all aspects of pre-clinical and clinical drug development including lifecycle management, and leadership.

Naturally business-focused and pragmatic, my Global Executive MBA taught me to challenge pre-existing paradigms. I view problems holistically, with strong skills in interpreting, synthesizing, and communicating complex scientific and business issues into practical strategies and protocols.

Strategy is only one side of the story. I have a track record in implementing and delivering on KPIs, too. I am a hands-on leader and values-led collaborator willing to do what it takes to manage budgets, execute launch plans, shape product value propositions, or tackle whatever challenge is thrown my way.

I’ve always been determined because I’ve always been the underdog. I moved to Noble Park in Melbourne from Serbia at age 13. I had limited English skills but, being highly tenacious and encouraged from a young age to lean into a challenge, I started university at just 16. By 2000, I earned my PhD and represented Australia in handball at the Olympics.

My personal and professional successes are founded on the value of teamwork. Although I am confident in taking the lead in the lab and with strategic initiatives, I know that every team member has a crucial role to play. Ensuring a seamless flow of knowledge between the clinical programs and the project team is my priority.

I am honest and have integrity and unwavering enthusiasm that helps me develop and nurture a broad network of relationships with advisory boards, advocacy groups, and alliance partners.

People truly are the heart of what I do and why I do it. I mentor women in STEM, and my co-workers are like family. I am always willing to roll up my sleeves and help. It's a busy life with young twin daughters, yet, when opportunities come up, I am the first person to seize the moment and take action.
