Biography

A/Prof Brough is leading Australia into a new astronomical survey of the southern sky. She has been a key member of three major Australian-led surveys of galaxies, which examine how galaxies have changed with time.  A/Prof Brough is particularly interested in the most massive galaxies in the Universe, which represent the most extreme result of galaxy formation. The new survey by the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST; https://www.lsst.org/) will reveal many unobserved aspects of this process.

A/Prof Brough is Research Director at UNSW's School of Physics. She represents Australia as the Australian Science Lead for LSST and, as the former chair of the Astronomical Society of Australia's Inclusion Diversity and Equity in Astronomy Chapter, she is a keen advocate for gender equity in science.
