Biography
Ravindi completed her PhD in Statistics at La Trobe University in 2022, focusing on stochastic modelling and statistical analysis of spatial and long-range dependent data, with applications to cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation from the Planck mission. Her work contributes novel tools for understanding the early Universe and earned her the prestigious Nancy Millis Medal for an outstanding thesis. She has presented her research at national and international conferences and seminars, and her interests include Spatial and Applied Statistics, Stochastic Modelling, Astrostatistics, Data Science, and Mathematics/Statistics Education. Ravindi is the Academic Skills Advisor (Maths/Coding) and the manager and coordinator of the Maths, Science, and Coding Hubs at La Trobe University, where she oversees strategic operations and leads a team of 35-40 staff across multiple campuses. She also teaches Mathematics and Statistics as a Sessional Lecturer, supporting students from diverse academic backgrounds. Her contributions to teaching have been recognized through multiple awards, including the Vice-Chancellor's Education Award for Teaching Excellence (2024), Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (2021), four 'Tutors as Partners' scholarships (2019, 2020), and recognition as a Customer Service Champion (2018). Under her leadership, the Maths Hub team also received a high commendation for the Vice-Chancellor's Cultural Qualities Award for Care (2024).
