Biography

Nisa is currently a Research Fellow – VC Initiatives, Despite her ECR status, Nisa has extensive experience in polymers and carbon fibres for advanced materials application. Nisa received her PhD from Deakin University in 2013 in materials engineering where her research mainly focused on advanced carbon materials and functional fibres. Nisa has published more than 35 high impact journal papers, 3 book chapters, and has one patent even with a career break of more than two years.  She has won many awards in her research career highlighted by the AINSE Gold Medal for Outstanding PhD, the Smart Geelong Early Researcher Award, a Victoria Fellowship, an Endeavour Fellowship, and an Alfred Deakin Fellowship.  Nisa’s vision is to develop smart, engineered materials that are enablers for digitalization and the internet of things – living materials that sense, actuate and harvest energy.
