Biography

Narelle Clark has deep expertise in the internet and broader telecommunications industry having held a range of senior technical, managerial and policy roles dating back to the origins of the internet in Australia. As the CEO of the Internet Association of Australia, Narelle runs Australia's largest, not-for-profit, carrier neutral network of Internet Exchange Points, IX Australia, Narelle has a unique perspective on contemporary internet operations. 

Her previous role was as the Principal Consultant with Pavonis Consulting, advising companies on telecommunications regulation, operations and technology. Narelle is the former Deputy CEO at ACCAN (responsible for their research and grants program), a former head of CSIRO’s Networking Technologies Laboratory (the origin of Wi-Fi), of Networks R&D/Advanced Network Architecture at SingTel Optus, and a former trustee of the global Internet Society.

Narelle has held seats on a range of in-depth technology policy boards and working groups and her board experience includes a range of non-profit and for profit boards including the Public Interest Registry which operates the .Org domain name space.

Narelle has a Masters in Engineering (Telecommunications), a Bachelor of Applied Physics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Wollongong where she recently taught a subject on ethics and practices in engineering.
