Biography

As a University lecturer I have a passion for teaching molecular biology and genetics, and improving educational outcomes for students. I have a particular interest in supporting first generation, Indigenous, and students from rural and regional backgrounds.

In my research I focus on genetic and biological factors that influence mental health, focussing on depression. This work aims to improve the way we diagnose and treat mental health disorders.

I am also an enthusiastic science communicator, penning a weekly science column for regional newspapers, and running regular outreach activities for school students.
