Biography

I am a Post-Doctoral Research Associate working at the School of Biological Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) at the University of New South Wales. I am a member of an Inter-Disciplinary Ecology and Evolution Lab (www.i-deel.org) led by Prof. Shinichi Nakagawa. I am a population ecologist and ecotoxicologist by training. Over the years, I expanded my toolbox to include research synthesis, especially meta-analysis and systematic reviews of literature and evidence. I participated in many project related to research synthesis across disciplines ranging from biology to built environment. This led to contributing to writing policy briefs based on systematic rapid reviews of academic publications. I have published peer-reviewed papers on various topics covering ecotoxicology, population ecology, genetics, evolution, nutrition and ageing. Currently my main research interest is in applying meta-analytic techniques to reveal how maternal nutrition affects offspring phenotype, including the effects on traits linked to disease development in later life. I am actively involved in trying to improve reporting practices in ecology and related fields, as well as Open Science movement. More on http://mlagisz.weebly.com
