Biography

Lisa Given, PhD, is Director, Social Change Enabling Capability Platform and a Professor of Information Sciences at RMIT University (Melbourne). Lisa is Past-President of the Association for Information Science and Technology and has served on the Australian Research Council's College of Experts. Lisa has received funding from granting councils and industry partners in Australian and Canada. She is co-author of the 4th edition of Looking for Information: A Survey of Research on Information Seeking, Needs and Behavior (2016), author of 100 Questions (and Answers) About Qualitative Research (2016), and editor of the two-volume Sage Encyclopedia of Qualitative Methods (2008). Her research explores individuals' experiences of technology, including social media, apps, websites, etc, with a focus on decision-making practices. She has conducted research in hospital emergency rooms, with preschoolers, in the wine industry, and in higher education.
