Biography

I am a Human Frontier Science Program Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney, working with Associate Professor David Suggett in the Future Reefs Team within the Climate Change Cluster.

My research applies molecular techniques to better understand the cellular processes that underpin coral health and function, to better inform conservation activities to help safeguard the world's coral reefs.

During my career, I have participated in active coral reef conservation projects around the world, including coral nursery construction and monitoring, shark population management, and ecological monitoring programmes that have led to the implementation of marine zonation plans. As a PADI, SSI and BSAC scuba diving instructor, I advocate for eco-aware scuba diving and diver education of our underwater world. I have also worked in government and participated in global science communication and policy initiatives.
