Biography

My research seeks to understand the forces that drive development of neurodegeneration following traumatic brain injury, and the role of external factors such as sex, age at injury, and additional immune insults play in promoting further neuronal injury.  There is increasing recognition that a traumatic brain injury causes damage not only at the moment of injury, but can have long-lasting effects. My research aims to develop technologies to identify those most at risk, so that long-term management of traumatic brain injury can be improved and timely interventions can be instigated.
