Biography

A highly driven animal scientist and reproductive biologist with a passion for reproductive research and biosecurity. My love of research started with a research project in the final year of my Bachelor of Biomolecular Science at Western Sydney University. I have a love of animals and have always been fascinated by reproduction and biosecurity, which led to a completion of a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience at the University of Sydney.

My final year at Sydney Uni involved an integrated honours degree where my project examined oocyte secreted factors and how they contribute to oocyte quality in pigs. I graduated from the degree with first class honours and decided to continue my research career by undertaking a PhD in animal reproduction. My PhD project examined the role of nutrition in equine fertility, specifically the role of vitamins in improving oocyte quality as a means to prevent early pregnancy loss in mares.

I am currently employed as an Assistant Director with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, managing the biosecurity risks associated with the import of various commodities into Australian Territory. My role involves the identification, assessment and application of techniques to control biosecurity risks in line with legislation and policy.
