Anitra Goriss-Hunter is a Lecturer in the School of Education at Federation University. Anitra coordinates the joint degrees in education programs that include the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Education (BEd), Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences/ BEd, Bachelor of Arts/BEd, and the Bachelor of Community and Human Services/BEd. Her research interests are in education, gender, technologies and inclusive teaching. Anitra has led projects that seek to improve female participation in STEM with a focus on secondary school and university education. These projects have resulted in publications focusing on women’s participation in STEM in Higher Education; ICT use in classrooms; and, an IT curriculum design case study. Anitra is currently leading a project and acting in an advisory capacity focusing on increasing the engagement and retention of female school and university students in STEM.
