Biography

I am a passionate clinician-scientist driven toward applying technology and systems-wide change for better, patient-centred care. My unique skills and experience have driven me to hold elected leadership positions at the Centre for Eye Health, on the Optometry NSW/ACT board of directors and on the editorial board of the journal Clinical and Experimental Optometry. These privileged positions empower me to shape the quality of primary eye care delivered throughout Australia.

Two-years post PhD, I have published twelve first-author publications, co-authored ten manuscripts, and presented nine proceedings at international conferences. I am also one of the named inventors on a patent for novel work regarding multispectral pattern recognition in macular disease.

The skills I am most driven by include:

  • Thinking strategically
  • Building capacity
  • Supporting technical excellence through innovation
  • Emboldening active learning
  • Developing and disseminating clinical decision support technologies

I currently work at the Centre for Eye Health, UNSW Sydney. My current projects are entitled:

  • Cluster analysis for improving outcomes in macular disease via multimodal support (COMMS)
  • Attitudes and barriers to care in AMD (The ABCs of AMD)
