Biography

I am a biologist and an award-winning writer living in Brisbane, Australia. I began studying and writing fiction in 2014, published my first literary short story in 2015 (here), won my first major award in 2017 (here), and my first novel ā€” called THE BREEDING SEASON ā€” will be published by Allen & Unwin in September 2019 (read more about that here). Iā€™m so excited! I teach (and write) creative writing with a dash of science, and you can find out about upcoming workshops here.

In addition to my creative work, I collaborate with university researchers, academics, and leadership teams to improve the communication of their ideas and outcomes in grants, papers, and reports. I work across all disciplinary fields, not just science. I also coach early career researchers to improve writing skills via workshops or one-on-one sessions.
