Biography

Ali is the Manager of Outreach Programs for the Australian Institute for Machine Learning, with a keen interest in promoting the importance and relevance of humans in an increasingly technological and digital world. Ali is responsible for developing, implementing and supporting student and industry programs to provide a greater understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence, in addition to the ethical and transparency issues around their development and usage.

With post-graduate qualifications in project and business management, and extensive operational experience in traditionally male dominated industries such as manufacturing, automotive and aviation, Ali has a strong focus on the empowerment of women and their uptake of non-traditional roles. She is the creator and Director of the Strong Girls In Future Technologies (SWIFT) Program, which is a series of workshops for girls aged 9 to 13, their caregivers and educators. This provides girls and their key influencers with an understanding of their critical importance to the future technological workforce, as well as the leadership skills that will serve them over a life-time.

Ali identifies as lgbtqia+.
